Resources to help you plan and prepare for college success.

    • Big Future is through CollegeBoard and you can create and account to save your favorites.
    • O*Net OnLine has a broader database. Go to Occupation Search and type in your keyword.
    • College List Builder – There are hundreds of colleges. Honestly, there is a college for every interest and location you could have. The problem is not if there is a college for you, it’s more about finding the right ones and narrowing your list. In about two minutes, this video will help figure out the steps to take to research colleges, build your list, and categorize it (reach, match, and safety). Watch and then click through to find the tools (like the Get Schooled College List Builder!) and more tips to help you build the perfect college list.

    • The College Tour is a TV series that tells the story of colleges and universities around the world.​ From campus life, academics, housing, sports, activities, and much more, each student driven segment gives young people an inside look at what it’s truly like being a student at the featured college or university. Find out where to watch the show and download the app HERE. 
    • Focus 2: A new major & career exploration planning tool for students. Access code: apache
    • Naviance: Click on Classlink and sign in using student's google email and password (like logging into a chromebook).
  • Always start at the college/university's website to see which application process they prefer to use.  Some have their own application.

    Common items needed for admissions: 

    • Completed application & paid fee
    • Official high school transcript sent
    • Official high school transcript sent
    • SAT, ACT, TSIA2 scores
    • Essays - if needed
    • Letters of Recommendation - teacher, counselor, community member, family friend
    • Brag Sheet / Resume / Porfolio - if needed
    • Check the college/university's website for any other specific items needed

    Helpful sites:

    ADVi is a chatbot that uses text messages to provide helpful, student-friendly information about college. Any student in Texas can start getting support from ADVi by texting COLLEGE to 512-829-3687 or by opting in on their freshman application in ApplyTexas. Get details about how it works for students. 

  • Junior and Senior students may have two college visits a year that do not count against exemptions.

    Students must bring a letter from the college and turn it into the attendance office.

  • Click to view our WHS Dual Credit Courses 

    We have a partnership with ETAMU for academic dual credit and TJC for Technical Dual Credit.  The courses in the WHS Dual Credit Courses document are the only courses approved for dual credit.  

    Check out the Texas Common Course Numbering System Website to determine course equivalency and degree applicability of transfer credit on a statewide basis.
